I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about sauces. Maybe it’s the warmer weather and the promise of hot dogs, burgers, salads and slaws, but I’ve got this fever for dressing my food!
A couple weeks ago I had a craving for french fries. My craving could not be ignored so I treated myself to a little break and got an order of fries along with three separate containers—one with mayonnaise, one with curry ketchup, and one with regular ketchup. I sat outside near a parking lot and had the most amazing 15 minutes of my day. The sun was shining and the fries were perking up my brain with their salty deliciousness. I ate every last fry, each with its own unique combination of my three sauces. In that moment I felt like a painter, mixing my sauces in gradients of creamy white to bright red. This is probably what sparked my sudden interest in condiments….
